Hair Update: Letting my hair just BE

Hey everyone!
So as you all know... over the the last 6 months I have had a crazy obsession with my hair color. I have been dying it dark, then darker, then darkest, then highlights.. then oh-my-gosh... whatever else I did. Anyhow, after all that processing, all the touch ups that I have gotten with trying to stay dark, I have FINALLY come to a place of YES with my hair.

I vowed after I got some skinny highlights that Cayla did, that I wouldn't touch it for at least 4-5 months. My hair was breaking all over the place, I could never get enough moisture in my hair, and I started training my hair to go without washing it for at least 3 days... to start! It's funny, you would think that putting dark in your hair wouldn't damage it, but any permanant color is damaging... If anything, demi permanant or semi permanant is the less damaging option for people maintaining darker hair... lesson learned!!!

Anyhow, since I'm naturally a dark blonde to light brown, the dark pieces of my hair have faded and now have blended beautifully with my root... and what do you know... my hair is FINALLY getting back to a healthy state, and that my friends... is just because I'm finally allowing my hair to BE.. no fussing... no nothing.. minimal styling.. and taking so much hair advice from other bloggers, friends and my hair dressers in terms of products, shampoos and deep conditioners.

This is my 2012 look, and I'm really happy with it...

I also got a really great trim not too long ago, so my hair is a little shorter. I want it to grow, but I know that in order to minimize split ends running up the hair shaft, I need to keep up my mini trims every 6-8 weeks.

One of the best parts about just letting my hair be... is that Ombre is one of the biggest trends in hollywood, and since I absolutely adore the ombre look, letting all my roots grow out, will just be adding to the trend even more.

I have naturally wavy hair, so after I initially curl my hair, I just touch up a few strands each day to keep it somewhat nice, then I just use dry shampoo, a tiny bit of product to bounce up those curls each day and BAM... finished!

The last thing I have been doing is parting my hair a little different. It's so broken in one spot, so I have been trying to part my hair more in the middle, but just a tad off to the side... It's a super weird feeling, but I'm getting used to it, and it will allow those broken pieces to mend nicer.

I am vowing to stick to my new year's resolution and leave my hair alone as much as I can, so if anyone has any tips that they can suggest, please comment below and tell me.. Any shampoos, conditioners, products... hair styles... etc.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!! :)

Love always,
xo
