Hi Lovlies,
Hope everyone is having a FAB day!!! Oh-my-goodness...I had the most relaxing morning coffee today with puppy outside. We sat on the porch in the shade with the warm breeze and sunny blue skies. I sipped my coffee and we shared some toast together. It was probably one of the most loved mornings I've had so far. We snuggled and as always.. he just makes my heart melt.. love that pooch! This awesome weather just brings smiles galore to my face too...love love LOVE this time of year. I feel so stress free and I love it!!!
One thing I did get upset with today was my new MAC concealer that I got, fell on the floor and broke everywhere!!! oh-my-gosh I think I almost about cried. I hate that when you get something new, barely used and it breaks...sad!! I managed to save a little bit of it, but it will probalby dry up and I will have to get another one. Sucks because I was so happy with this concealer, and MAC does not make products cheap either....Hellooo clumsy-ness... I'M ON A BUDGET!!!
Anyhow.. Over the weekend I went grocery shopping. I don't really buy too much at once, I like to get a few things at a time because I'm kind of really picky when it comes to what I feel like eating everyday and I can NEVER have the same thing twice in one week.. strange, I know!!
Since I'm on my calorie counting diet plan, I purchased some snack items that are on the healthier side. They are alternatives for people like myself, who LOVE bad food!!! My calorie counter was angry and broke up with me over the weekend, so now I have to earn it's trust back and get my booty together and follow my calorie counting again this week...lol
Here is the yummiest of yummy dips that you can make at home that is a healthy alternative to the ones that you buy at the grocery store pre-made. It also still tastes super delish without the crazy high level cals...me like!
So I made this yumalicious dip. Yessss.. I know that tostitos aren't the healthiest, but you can also have this with whole wheat pita bread too. The bottom layer is made from light cream cheese. It looks like a lot in the pic, but it just went up the sides a little. The next layer is salsa, then some freshly cut up green peppers. It is topped with skim milk cheese (just a think layer). Then when you are ready, pop it in the microwave for about a minute until it is heated throughout.. It's super yummy and not too bad on the calorie count either.
My next healthier choice is Fat Free Skim Chocolate Milk
Chocolate milk isn't good for you but.... here is the exception. When you are getting cravings and are starving or even just went to the gym and can't make something right away, having a glass of chocolate milk fills your cravings and allows your tummy to stop yelling at you without packing on the cals... BF and I buy the fat free chocolate skim milk which is much healthier!!! It also tastes just as good as the regular kind. It also helps fill your sweet tooth cravings. We both love chocolate milk, so getting the fat free skim kind is definitely the healthier choice. Try to limit your intake though because this stuff can get crazy addicting!!!
Spicy Tzatziki Yogurt Dip
I absolutely LOVE tzatziki sauce. I could eat this on everything!!! I found a spicier kind that tastes amazing from President's choice. It's super low fat. It's yogurt based so it doesn't carry all though yucky calories that will make you go up a dress size. This dip is fantastic!! I love this with whole wheat pita bread. I bring this to work to snack on and it fills me up quick. The spice in it is also good for you to help burn off cals. Try this... soooo GOOD!
Frank's Hot Sauce
Speaking of spice burning some extra calories. If you can handle a bit of a kick in your food, you are less likely to eat more. Putting spice in your spagetti sauce, chicken dishes, etc... really does help lessen your food intake. I try to put as much spice in my foods as I can. I have built up a better tolerance to hot and spicy stuff, but I have definitely noticed that I am not eating as much and my portion sizes are staying small...Frank's is the best hot sauce that I have tried that doesn't blow your tongue off...lol
Special K Fruit Crisps
These friends... tastes incredible!!!! They are so yummy that I really have to watch how many of these I eat in one day...lol.. I bought the strawberry kind and BF bought the blueberry. He also loves these. They are perfect to take in your lunches and the best part....2 bars are only 100 calories... Hello skinny body...here I come!!!! Special K is really getting into lower calorie snacks these days. I am loving that becasue I'm a huge fan of Special K items....Honestly, try this... THAT is my advice to you today...LOL
Fat Free Cottage Cheese
Lots of people don't like cottage cheese because of the texture, but seriously... cottage cheese is soooooo beyond good for you. It has so much protein in one bite. I am trying to eat this in my breakfast picks each day, even if I just take a few spoonfuls.. This stuff is the healthy of healthy... If you love it.. great!!! but if you don't, I would say try to suck it up and eat this. It very filling and you can pile a little bit of fruits on top if you would like. I would stay away from too much fruit though.. it has ridiculous amounts of sugar that plays a factor in gaining weight. Apples are good for you and watermelon is also good, but I would stay away from bananas and strawberries as they are really sugary! Some is good, but not too much :)
Yogurt
Yogurt is good to have as a snack, but not too much of it unless you are getting the plain kind. Yogurt has a lot of sugar in it, so beware.. I would def have this over a bag of chips, but just limit yourself to only one little packett a day... Seriously, next time you are at the grocery store, compare the sugar intake from plain yogurt, to a flavored kind... you WILL see the difference. That's why I said in my "Protein Shakes" post, that if you can incorporate plain yogurt into your shake, you are set... Yogurt is still a healthier option over the obvious fast food, so yay for yogurt!!!
Anyhow, hope these little tips helped. Do you guys have any healthier snacks that you picked up on your last grocery trip that you can share with me? I'm going to do another post with some more healthier"meal" options that are on my list to make and that I eat regularly. You will love it. I hate the taste of healthy foods that taste like cardboard, so trust me when I say... These are actually so good!!!
Hope you all are having a good night :) See you tomorrow!!!
Love everyone
xoxo
