Finding my Fashionista Again with Style

Happy Saturday my friends!

What a beautiful day outside. Not too hot, not too cold, just perfect temperature with sunny skies and best of all...no winter jacket!!!

I had the WORST scare yesterday as a momma.. Puppy got outside without me having the slightest clue... I guess what happened was the BF went to get a proline at the corner store and shut the front door but it didn't latch properly. The wind blew the door open and while I was upstairs, puppy escaped!!! I didn't even know he was gone. The neighbour came to the door saying "hello, hello" and I'm like "Is someone trying to get into my house?" I had no idea what was going on until I saw the neighbour holding puppy. THANK GOD she knew Remy and where he lived (apparently puppy is a celebrity with the children on the street..lol) because who knows where he would've ended up. I almost cried. I'm so glad he is home with us now but that was a lesson for BF and I to make sure all out doors are closed properly.  Puppy... please don't ever leave your mamma like that again!!!!

For my post today, I really wanna talk to you about Lauren Conrad's book "Style". I just love it!!! I seriously read this book in one day I was so interested in it. I picked this book up because since it came out, I really wanted to give it a read.

Lately I feel like I'm in such a style rut. For some reason, I can't accept that I'm 29 years old. I've lived the last year or two in lulu's and hoodies during the spring, winter and fall months and in the summer, I've been just kind of blah with shorts and tanks. I have lost the inspiration to dress trendy, dress up, heels, everything that I used to. I feel like my early 20's I was style obsessed. Brand name everything, I could dress up and dress down without failing to lose style.

I guess I have been really not wanting to accept my age. Getting older sucks and when you're surrounded at bars with 25 year olds and under, feeling the pre-cougar stage is not pleasant!!! (how many exclamation marks am I allowed here)..lol

Since watching The Hills, I have had such respect for Lauren Conrad's style. This girl puts together great outfits. When her "style" book came out, I really wanted to read it. It was like $22 at Chapters so not crazy expensive. My fav part was when she talks about 5 ways to wear a LBD (little black dress) and by then, I was hooked to the point where I just couldn't stop reading.

I had NO IDEA that one dress could be worn so many ways. It was love at first read let me tell you. After reading this book, I have even more respect for fashion. Not just because of LC's book, but because I miss fashion. I miss heels, I miss cute outfits, flashy accessories, fun skirts, fashion everything!!!

LC's book didnt' want to make me wanna be her, it made me want to find my fashion trend and get back into my old ways. I have had enough of hoodie, gym pants, sweats in general (unless I'm home, then I love it) in public. I want to find my inner fashion statement and this book has kind of guided me back. When I'm shopping at the malls now, I'm not heading into my normal sections of stores, I'm heading into totally different and uncomfortable territory, the dressier side. When I go get my hair done now, I'm getting more natural looking blonde with a side of weaved in lowlights to bring in some of me again. My nails are perfectly painted these days with a pop of color. I am returning to my norm and it feels so good. I'm not saying that I hate wearing lulu's, because I LOVE THEM like no tomorrow, but now I like mixing their crops, headbands, tops and sweaters with dresser things. Just enough mix to give it a non gyming look.

I'm also finding myself drawn to cute dresses with heels again, cute hair clips, fun sweater coats and high boots. This summer I want to invest in more wedges, skirts, and anythin bohemian style with fun belts. I also love flats too which I'm going to try to incorporate into my new look. I don't want to look completely different, but I want to look a little more of a polished 29 year old. I also want to find some cute hairstyles that I can wear up and down and incorporate loose and fun curls into my do.

My biggest change, is I want to really decrease the flat iron uses. It's ruining my hair and I find since I've gotten the Phyto Hair Relaxing Serum, my blowouts are phenominal!!! Well worth the $24.

All in all, my LC's "style" book is now my coffee table book that I can see everyday. Glancing at it gives me my pump of inspiration becasue all the basics that every girl needs, are essentials. People can create any sort of fashion trend they like, but having the essentials helps start us off somewhere.

Thanks Miss Lauren Conrad for giving me inspiration to get back into fashion again.. Much of what I've been doing these days in order not to break my bank account, is buy one item of choice each week. That way I'm not dipping into my savings or putting things on VISA. Eventually I will be where I want to be with fashion, but at least it's a start in the right direction. Having an inspiration to follow really motivates me. Whether it's working out, fashion, hair etc. Everyone needs inspiration of some sort. Even you could be an inspiration to someone else and not even now it. It's important to find yourself and what you love, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to be guided just a bit.

Here are some awesome LC outfits from her book and from the internet that I think are adorable!

Enjoy your Saturday!!
