Yay!!! It's Wednesday. Half way through the work week. I hope everyone had a nice day and are currently having a night relaxing evening.
Today's post is about my all time favorite books. I have so many fun and great books that I have read, but these just top the list of my books that have stuck around and I will not let go no matter how many gazillions of dollars I'm offered.. k..that's a lie..$10?? sold!!!
My first favorite is the fluffy and every girl should read this series. It's the Confessions of a Shopaholic Series.
I just fell in love with this series. I could relate because it's all about shopping!! If you haven't seen the movie.. it's ok, the books are way better! Each novel has it's own cute-ness and morals. I followed this series all the way through Rebecca Bloomfield's life. It was almost like she was a part of me and when the books came to an end, I felt a little lost, like I need more!!! Anyhow, def check out these series. It would make most sense to start at the beginning with "Confessions of a Shopaholic" then move on to "manhattan" "ties the knot" then "sister". I heart this series like no tomorrow. Not too many of these fluffy books compare to this. A fav and top pick!
My next series that takes a close second, is Emily Giffin's Something Borrowed and Something Blue.
These are amazing reads! I was skeptical at first but ended up becoming a little obsessed with this series. It's about love, betrayal, romance.. you name it, it's there! I highly recommend these books, maybe not to teens, but definietly people in your 20's, 30's, 40's... these novels are just too adorable. Please read these!!!
Ok, moving on to not-so-fluffy reads.. I absolutely LOVED The Kite Runner
I really didn't want to read this book at first, but at Chapters, I always love "Heather's Picks" so I tend to lean towards those when picking books. It was a little slow at the beginning, getting to know the characters, but holy crap... I really got into this book. Let me give you a blurb. "The Kite Runner tells the gripping story of a boyhood friendship destroyed by jealousy, fear, and the kind of ruthless evil that transcends mere politics." This is a great read for people who want something a little more non-fluffy. Beware though.. you won't be able to put this book down!!! lol
Another awesome read were some from High School believe it or not. The first being Great Expectations.
I saw the movie first, then read the book (I know...weird) but the book made more sense to me that way. I loved Gwenyth Paltrow's character and I loved the old grandma (Miss Havisham). This is a classic by Charles Dickens. I can't say much about it except it's one of those novels/movies that you have to see in your lifetime..love it!!!
Another great one is The Great Gatsby.
I also saw the movie to this one and was automatically inlove with Robert Redford.. So sexified in this flick. The novel was so intriguing and so different. Here's a blurb. It's also a love story, of sorts, the narrative of Gatsby's quixotic passion for Daisy Buchanan. The pair meet five years before the novel begins, when Daisy is a legendary young Louisville beauty and Gatsby an impoverished officer. They fall in love, but while Gatsby serves overseas, Daisy marries the brutal, bullying, but extremely rich Tom Buchanan. After the war, Gatsby devotes himself blindly to the pursuit of wealth by whatever means--and to the pursuit of Daisy, which amounts to the same thing. "Her voice is full of money," Gatsby says admiringly, in one of the novel's more famous descriptions. His millions made, Gatsby buys a mansion across Long Island Sound from Daisy's patrician East Egg address, throws lavish parties, and waits for her to appear.
My last top pick on my list is Virginia Woolfe's Mrs.Dalloway.
I'm not really sure how to explain this book, so here's a blurb.. Again.. friggin amazing read!!!! Mrs Dalloway (published on 14 May 1925) is a novel by Virginia Woolf that details a day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway in post-World War I England. It is one of Woolf's best-known novels. The novel's story is of Clarissa's preparations for a party of which she is to be hostess. With the interior perspective of the novel, the story travels forwards and back in time and in and out of the characters' minds to construct an image of Clarissa's life and of the inter-war social structure. In Mrs Dalloway, all of the action, except flashbacks, takes place on a day in June. It is an example of stream of consciousness storytelling: every scene closely tracks the momentary thoughts of a particular character
So to all my readers.. If you are ever stuck and want a great read, you should definitely check out these books. Everyone has different taste but IMO, these books are at the top of the charts!!!
